When you have decided which credit card you want to apply for, you must look at all aspects that the provider has to offer. You may want to pay off your monthly balance every month, if that’s the case then interest rates would be least of your worries.

When choosing your credit card there are many issues that do not relate to interest rates:

  • The consumer protection – Does the credit card you choose offer a consumer protection? If the answer is yes then does the item have to be over a certain value to be covered legally?

  • The annual fee – For holding the credit card, does the card issuer charge an annual fee? There are many credit cards out there and an annual fee should be the least of your worries however that credit card may offer something extra, which outweighs the cost of an annual fee.

  • Information on charitable donations – This is when the card issuer contributes a little donation to a charitable need, each time the credit card is used and the card holder will not be charged an extra rate.

  • Information on travel insurance – There are loads of credit cards which offer travel accident insurance . Always read the terms and conditions also small prints. You may want to book a holiday but pay for it on your credit card? holiday deposits using a credit card may not be covered.

  • Information on cash back – Many credit cards offer cashback on most purchases and tend to be 0.5% and 1%.

  • Want more than one credit card – You may feel you want more than one credit card or feel there are too many to decide from. The American Express Red credit card looks appealing and some may pick this due to the stylish looks.
