Barclaycard introduce contactless credit card called OnePulse

Credit card company Barclaycard is looking to concentrate its efforts on a contactless credit card called the OnePulse.  The group are looking to issue one million OnePulse contactless credit cards by the end of this year.

The approach by Barclaycard could soon set way for wallets without the need for plastic credit cards using underlying technologies that involves an electronic chip that can be embedded within a fob or even a mobile phone.  However, this is more the long term picture of where the market could well be placed but in the meantime credit card users could actually make payment for goods and services without actually taking their card out of their wallet. 

According to a Chief Executive officer for Barclaycard it was commented that "If I had said to you 10 years ago that you couldn't pay with a cheque at the supermarket, you wouldn't have believed me. That is now the reality, and we see plastic cards going the same way eventually."
