Credit card fraudsters are not going to
stop

Equifax has claimed that credit
card fraud is completed with a network of people.
Identity fraud is one major section
within the credit
card fraud sector, also online fraud today is high, however
identity fraud can be the worst.
In September 2006, Equifax completed
a survey and nearly 11 per cent of people who were victims of
fraud stated clearly that they had some sort of relationship with
the fraudster.
Most of the time the fraud is operated
within the family, recent figures estimating 19 per cent, while
14 per cent was criminal activity taken part by the victim’s
neighbours.
Equifax’s director Neil Munroe
stated that leaving personal data in easy noticeable areas like
a mail box or even leaving unwanted bank statements in rubbish
bins, could easily allow fraudsters to get hold of your credit
card information.
Neil commented, "If you live in
shared accommodation keep passports, driving licences and other
documents under lock and key."
Equifax has made an announcement to
consumers about their personal belongings, ‘do not give
them a easy ride.’ They feel credit
card holders should check their balance more regularly and
keep on top of all statements.
Credit
card fraud is something that can never be stopped but can
be reduced, Equifax feel if consumers are more careful with their
personal data it could make life harder for fraudsters.
