Credit card usage on the net
17/04/2007
A latest report published by Travelodge
has highlighted the credit
card holders are prepared to take on the risks of using their
credit
card online to make payments for their internet purchases.
The data published by Travelodge deems
credit
card usage on the net as high on their list of risky activities
that credit
card holders are willing to make. The study also brings to
attention that many travellers do not take out travel
insurance for their holidays.
These figures are further supported
by facts from Get Safe Online where the average crime for internet
fraud was £875, this equated to twelve percent of UK internet
users who were hit by levels of fraud on the net.
During 2006 around 1.7 million people
had said that they had experienced internet fraud against them
whilst shopping on the internet.
Guy Parsons, Travelodge’s
chief operating officer said "We are all prepared to take
some level of risk in our lives but some are willing to gamble
harder than others “. "Travelling abroad without insurance
could save you £10 but cost £10,000 - the odds are
not hot." He added further.
